Support your mental health by keeping your mind as clear as possible throughout your day by writing everything down.
Having to remember to do things if you don’t write them down creates ‘open loops’ of thoughts that take mental energy to remember. If you have any thoughts like “oh I need to remember to…” then type it in your phone or to-do list. Writing things down means that you have everything you need to remember right in front of you and recall is just a check of your notes, not a mental effort. It also makes it a lot easier to then organise your priorities throughout the day.
When you have lots of tasks to do in a day, grab a pen and paper and write everything out - consider it a mental detox.
You can then group tasks together into similar topics or themes, which brings simplicity to the list. Mind maps are also a way to group tasks in a visual way - try apps like Mindly for mindmaps on your phone.
Once you have grouped tasks, you can also prioritise them for what you need to take action on. Highlight the tasks which you are most motivated to do (whether this is from urgency or internal motivation) and also which tasks are the easiest to do. You will be left with the tasks which are top priority and easiest to get going with if you are struggling to get started.
At the end of the day, you can also wind down your mind by journaling the day in whichever method suits you personally- whether to reflect, check in with your personal goals, or simply to get it all down on paper so you can settle your mind to sleep.
Getting your mind down on paper helps you organise and clarify your thoughts and feelings, giving you more space for a creative, peaceful, resilient mind.
